Vietnamese, Cuban Defence Ministers hold talks

Vietnam and Cuba sought to bring the defence cooperation to the next level of development during talks between their defence ministers in Hanoi on December 21.

Minister of Defence PhungQuang Thanh and Leopoldo Cintra Frias, who is Minister of CubanRevolutionary Armed Forces, discussed orientations for the cooperationin the coming time as well as issues of concern.

General Thanh said Vietnam always bears in mind the valuable, free,and efficient support that Cuba had provided her during the paststruggle for independence as well the current construction and defencecause.

Leopoldo Cintra Frias extendedcongratulations on the 70 th founding anniversary of the VietnamPeople’s Army and the country’s achievements in its development process.

Both host and guest shared hopes that the visitwill help cement the traditional friendship and solidarity between thetwo armies and people.

Minister Leopoldo CintraFrias and his entourage have been in Vietnam since December 16 for afriendship visit through to December 23.

The Cuban officers paid tribute to late President Ho Chi Minh at his Mausoleum and visited some military units.-VNA
