The event also aims to broaden trade ties between Tra Vinh andCambodian northwestern provinces, including Battambang, BanteayMeanchay, Pailin, Pursat, Oddar Meanchey and Siem Reap.
Running until April 12, the fair features nearly 100 booths,introducing to Cambodian consumers typical products of Vietnam’s MekongDelta region such as frozen aquatic products, aquatic species, plantsand fertilizers.
Speaking at the fair’s opening,Vice Chairman of the Tra Vinh People’s Committee Nguyen Van Phong saidthe fair is a chance for businesses of both sides to study each other’smarket, seek investment opportunities and broaden their cooperation.
There is also room for Tra Vinh and the Cambodian provinces tostrengthen their cultural and social cooperation, contributing todeveloping the traditional friendship between the two countries andpeoples, he said.
During the fair’s framework, aseminar on farming techniques will be organised with the aim of helpingthe two provinces’ agriculture sectors to improve productivity andeconomic efficiency.
Battambang is considered thelargest rice granary of Cambodia. However, its rice yield averagesonly 2 tonnes per hectare.
On the occasion, the twoprovinces signed a memorandum of understanding on socio-economic andcultural cooperation in the future, focusing on economic activities andpersonnel training.-VNA
