MostVenerable Thich Thien Phap, Vice Standing President of the VietnamBuddhist Sangha (VBS) Executive Council, presented the foundingcertificate to Nun Thich Tam Tri, the head of the association.
NunThich Tam Tri said the association in the first tenure (2013-2018)would work hard to consolidate solidarity within the Vietnamesecommunity in Japan, educate the younger generation on Vietnam’sidentities and cultural traditions, support Vietnamese students inJapan, and guide Buddhists in their social interactions.
Duringthe ceremony, VBS representatives also presented the foundingcertificates for four monasteries in Tokyo, Saitama, Shizuoka and Nagoyaprefectures.
Reviewing the Buddhist exchange between Vietnam andJapan, Acting President of the VBS’s Executive Council Most VenerableThich Thien Nhon expressed his hope that the Vietnamese BuddhistAssociation in Japan would act as a bridge between the two countries andcontribute to the development of Buddhism in Vietnam.
TheVietnamese Buddhist Association in Japan came into being under the VBS’sdecision No.416 dated November 11, 2013. It was approved by theJapanese Government on February 28, 2014.-VNA
