The 47-year-old man, known asJang, from the southern port city of Busan , is charged withmurdering his 20-year-old wife just eight days after she arrived in thecountry to live with him.

The couple had marriedin Vietnam in January after meeting through an internationalmatchmaking agency, which failed to check the groom's past record ofmental illness.

According to Yonhap, prosecutorsalso cited the possibility of further crimes, as Jang has been treatedfor mental illness many times.

The news agency said Jang entered a guilty plea and judges will make a verdict in the next trial./.
