The mural painting at Da Nang Airport, for which Thuy and hercolleagues won the prize, was made with paints produced by French-basedindustrial paint producer Guard Industrie. The mural covers a pillar which is7.4m in height and 6.4m in diameter with bright images of plants and flowers.
At the same event, painter Thuy also won a consolation prize forher ‘Love Heart for Hanoi’, a heart-shaped sculpture decorated with millions ofceramic tiles placed by Truc Bach Lake in downtown Hanoi.
The two prizes are in the same "Society and Design forEnvironment" category at the IDA.
The IDA, established in 2007, is held annually in Los Angeles,with the aim of recognising, honouring and promoting legendary designvisionaries and uncovering emerging global talents in architecture, as well asinterior, product, graphic and fashion design.
This year’s competition attracted more than 1,000 entries sentfrom architects and designers from 52 countries throughout the world. Winnersof this year’s event were honoured at a ceremony on June 10 at the A DArchitecture and Design Museum in Los Angeles.-VNA
