Vietnamese abroad respond to reunification day

Vietnamese embassies in Algeria, Angola and Romania recently held activities to mark the 40th anniversary of southern liberation and national reunification (April 30).

The April 30victory was a decisive event in the 21-year fight against Americaninvaders and was the historic end to the 30 struggle for independenceand reunification, Vietnamese Ambassador to Algeria Vu The Hiep told apress conference on April 26.

Under the leadershipof the Communist Party of Vietnam over the past 40 years, Vietnam hasgrown from a war-torn and underdeveloped economy into a country of peaceand stability with increasing stature in the region and the world, hesaid.

The same day, the State-owned Algeria PressService and the daily El Moudjahid also ran coverage of the April 1975triumph.

In Angola, the Vietnamese embassy opened acourse raising awareness about the Party to excellent members chosenfrom the grassroots youth movements.

In Romania andItaly, meetings celebrating the occasion attracted hundreds ofVietnamese students, expatriates and foreign partners.

The Vietnamese students in Italy called for continued global supportto Vietnam in its path to protecting peace, stability and development.

A similar celebration event took place in HighSchool 282 in Moscow, Russia on April 27, with Vietnamese AmbassadorNguyen Thanh Son and former Soviet Union military experts taking part.

On the same day, Venezuelan television channel Telesur broadcast adocumentary shot in Hanoi exploring the war and its painful consequencesfor generations of Vietnamese people. It also showed images of thesocio-economic progresses enjoyed by Vietnam, the results of thecountry’s firm determination and exceptional perseverance.-VNA

ASEAN’s goods, culinary culture promoted in Europe

A solemn ceremony was held on October 20 in the southern city of Arles, Bouches-du-Rhône prefecture of France, to mark the 10th anniversary of the memorial dedicated to Indochinese workers who came to work in the Camargue region during World War II.

The Mekong Delta province of Bac Lieu on October 21 signed a cooperation agreement with Uiseong county, Gyeongsangbuk-do province of the Republic of Korea (RoK) on sending local labourers to the RoK to work seasonally under the form of locality-to-locality collaboration between the two countries in the 2023 - 2027 period.

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year

Chinese sick sailor on vessel AMIS STAR provided with first aid
