Vietnam works to improve skills of young labourers

Hanoi (VNA) - Training workers with new skills in the context of international integrationand the Fourth Industrial Revolution is the top priority of Vietnam, DeputyMinister of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs Doan Mau Diep said at aconference held in Hanoi on December 3.

The conference on international integration,the future workforce and skills for young labourers was held by ManpowerGroup Vietnam,in coordination with the Ministry of Labour, War Invalids and Social Affairs(MoLISA).

At the conference, experts agreed Vietnam’sprogress in integration and the emergence of Industry 4.0 have made a highquality workforce the main factor in developing the country’s economy.

With a total of 56 million workers, Vietnamhas a great advantage in attracting foreign investment. However,ManpowerGroup’s report for the second quarter of this year showed that only 11percent of the workers had high-quality skills.

Simon Matthews, country director ofManpowerGroup Vietnam, Thailand and the Middle East, said that businesses, theGovernment and schools should join in helping the young generation adapt to thenew world of labour, as the rate of growth is higher than ever.

ManpowerGroup hoped to connect the three sidesto help Vietnamese workers develop necessary skills and improve theircompetitive capacity, he said.-VNA
