Vietnam-WEF strategic dialogue: Efforts to realise Vietnam’s development goals

Hanoi (VNA) - Prime Minister Pham MinhChinh, and Founder and Executive Chairman of the World Economic Forum (WEF)Prof. Klaus Schwab will co-chair a national strategic dialogue between Vietnamand the WEF on October 29.

The event, to be held in both online and in-person forms, willtake the theme "Enhancing public-private partnership: Key motivation forcomprehensive recovery and inclusive, sustainable development andinnovation".

This is the first time that such a national strategicdialogue will take place between Vietnam and the WEF. It is also an opportunity forthe WEF and foreign investors to directly discuss with the Prime Minister abouteconomic goals and socio-economic development potential of the Government in the 2021-2026 tenure,and get an insight in opportunities to expand their business in Vietnam.

Investors will also offer suggestions about how topromote and take advantage of investment and technology, innovation and digitaltransformation.

Since Vietnam and the WEF established relations in1989, their cooperative ties have been enhanced in different spheres.

Vietnamese government leaders have regularly attendedWEF Davos meetings as well as regional meetings on East Asia and the Associationof Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN).

Vietnam has coordinated with the WEF to organise many majorsocio-economic and diplomatic events in the Southeast Asian nation. The WEF anda number of Vietnamese ministries and agencies have also launched cooperationprogrammes.

Vietnam is also a key partner of the WEF within theframework of the “New Vision for Agriculture”.

The dialogue is expected to create opportunities forVietnam to call for investors and mobilise resources to realise developmentgoals and orientations to restructure the national economy and renew itsgrowth model.

The PM’s co-chair of the event aims to promoteVietnam’s vision, aspirations and targets set in the socio-economic developmentstrategy for 2021-2030, and the country’s policy on adapting to the COVID-19 pandemic./.
