Vietnam wants to learn from the Republic of Korea (RoK)’s experience in fighting corruption, withdrawing corrupted assets and preventing hi-tech crimes, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracy of Vietnam Le Minh Tri has said.

Seoul (VNA) – Vietnam wants to learn from the Republic of Korea(RoK)’s experience in fighting corruption, withdrawing corrupted assets andpreventing hi-tech crimes, Prosecutor General of the Supreme People’s Procuracyof Vietnam Le Minh Tri has said.

Tri made the statement at a workingsession with Prosecutor General Moon Moo-il of the Supreme Prosecutors' Officeof the RoK in Seoul on April 15.

He said cooperation between the twocountries has developed in numerous fields such as politics, diplomacy,economics, trade, culture and people-to-people exchange.

However, bilateral collaboration inthe judicial field has failed to meet potential, Tri stressed, suggesting bothsides intensify cooperation to meet demand for citizen protection and step updelegation exchanges.

Moon, in turn, expressed his beliefthat the Vietnamese delegation’s visit would help develop the two offices’relations.

He affirmed that the RoK is willingto help Vietnam establish and run a digital forensic research centre like theone in his country.

To prevent corruption, Moonemphasised the importance of auditing work, and added the RoK will share itsexperience with Vietnam in this field.

The Korean Prosecutor Generalsuggested Vietnam join the Asset Recovery Interagency Network-Asia Pacific(ARIN-AP), and allow the Supreme Prosecutors' Office of the RoK to sendofficials to work at the Korean Embassy in the country to boost cooperationbetween People’s procuracies of Vietnamese localities and Prosecutors' Officesof Korean localities.-VNA
