Le Hong Anh, Politburo member and standing member of the Party CentralCommittee’s Secretariat made the statement while meeting Vice Presidentof the Cambodian People’s Party (CPP) and Prime Minister Hun Sen, andCPP Honourary President and Chairman of the National Assembly HengSamrin, in Phnom Penh on June 9.
Anh briefed hishosts on overall situation in Vietnam, including recent developmentsin the East Sea and the outcomes of his talks with the CPPhigh-ranking delegation.
He congratulated Cambodia onimportant achievements that the country has gained so far, expressinghis belief that under the reign of the King and the leadership of theNA, Senate and the CPP-led Government, the Cambodian people will reapmore success.
He also thanked Cambodian leaders and peoplefor supporting Vietnam during the past struggle for independenceand current national renovation, construction and defence.
The Cambodian leaders lauded the fruitful results of the talks betweenthe two Party delegations, as well as the effective partnership betweenthe legislative bodies, Governments and ministries and localities ofboth countries.
They spoke highly of the efficient investment of Vietnamese businesses in Cambodia over the past years.
The leaders expressed gratitude to the Vietnamese people for theprecious and timely support and assistance that they have given toCambodia during the country’s struggle for liberation that savedCambodian from genocide and revived the nation, as well as in currentnational conciliation and development.
They affirmed thatthe close neighbourliness, traditional friendship and comprehensivepartnership between the two countries is further growing, becoming apriceless treasure which should be preserved and passed on to nextgenerations.
The two sides agreed to direct ministries andlocalities to implement joint declarations, agreements and treatiessigned between the two countries in a strict and effective manner.
They will continue strengthening communication campaigns to help thepublic, particularly young people, understand better about theVietnam-Cambodia traditional ties, while speeding up demarcation alongthe shared land border to build a borderline of peace, friendship,cooperation and development.
The two sides also agreed tocreate favourable conditions for each other’s citizens and give equaltreatment to them as to other foreign nationals.
Theypledged to increase mutual support in international and regional mattersand promote the settlement of disputes through peaceful measures inconformity with international law and regional commitments.
The two sides agreed they will collaborate closely in preparing for the14th meeting of the Vietnam-Cambodia Inter-Governmental Committee onEconomic, Cultural, Education and Science-Technology Cooperation.
Also on June 9, the Vietnamese delegation visited the Vietnam Bank forInvestment and Development in Cambodia (BIDC) and had a working sessionwith representatives from the Association of Vietnamese Investor inCambodia.
They left Phnom Penh for Siem Reap province the same day.-VNA
