Vietnam, US law organisations step up cooperation

The Vietnam Bar Federation (VBF) and the American Bar Association (ABA) signed an agreement in Hanoi on January 10, aiming to boost mutual understanding and engagements.
Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam Bar Federation (VBF) and the American BarAssociation (ABA) signed an agreement in Hanoi on January 10, aiming to boostmutual understanding and engagements.

Accordingly,the sides will, via their official channels, exchange information on theirapparatuses and law practices, among other activities. Their leaders will havemeetings to discuss common concerns and technical support projects to help theVBF implement its strategy of lawyers’ capacity development for globalintegration.

Speaking atthe signing ceremony, VBF Chairman Do Ngoc Thinh stressed the pact marks a newdevelopment stage of bilateral cooperation.

He said heexpects both sides will soon agree on specific cooperative activities to putinto actions principles set in the pact.

ABAPresident Hilarie Bass said the implementation of the freshly signed agreementwill improve mutual understanding and assistance to ensure mutual benefits inline with the laws from both nations.

The sameday, the VBF and ABA exchanged views on lawyers’ quality, code of honour andprofessional work.

Founded in1878, the American Bar Association is a voluntary professional organisation,grouping over 400,000 members and more than 3,500 entities.  It is committed to supporting the legalprofession with practical resources for legal professionals while improving theadministration of justice, accrediting law schools, establishing model ethicalcodes, and more.-VNA

Tien Giang strives to reduce poverty rate to 0.87% this year
