Vietnam, UK boost strategic partnership

London (VNA) – The Vietnam-UK Network has contributed significantly tostimulating the strategic partnership between the two countries, saidVietnamese Ambassador to the UK Nguyen Van Thao at a recent meeting of thenetwork.

Thao saidthe two partners overcame difficulties to secure sound cooperation outcomeslast year, with bilateral trade revenue increasing 15 percent year-on-year.

There are12,000 Vietnamese students studying in the UK, he added.

Thediplomat noted that room for future cooperation remains extensive.

AlokSharma, UK Minister for Asia and the Pacific, also spoke highly ofcontributions made by the Vietnam – UK Network, adding that the growth of thebilateral partnership could play an important role in developing theAsia-Pacific economy.

TheVietnam-UK Network was established in January 2013, as part of Party GeneralSecretary Nguyen Phu Trong’s visit to the UK. It is an overarching umbrellagroup bringing together organisations and individuals with shared interests inVietnam to promote Vietnam – UK cooperation.-VNA
