Vietnam treasures ties with China’s Yunnan province: Deputy PM

The Vietnamese Government has attached much importance to relations with Yunnan province, and agreed to increase the exchange of high-level delegations and step up bilateral cooperation in tourism, culture and science-technology, Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue said.

Hanoi (VNA) – TheVietnamese Government has attached much importance to relations with Yunnanprovince, and agreed to increase the exchange of high-level delegations andstep up bilateral cooperation in tourism, culture and science-technology,Deputy Prime Minister Vuong Dinh Hue said.

Receiving Deputy Secretaryof Yunnan province’s Party Committee Wang Yobo in Hanoi on October 23, DeputyPM Hue stressed the Vietnamese Party and Government always treasure thefriendship and practical cooperation with their Chinese counterparts.

Vietnam wants to join handswith China to carry out high-level agreements and perceptions, enhancepolitical trust, deepen cooperative ties and properly settle existing issues onthe basis of legal regulations and respect for each other’s legitimatebenefits, he said.

Wang said as Yunnan hastargeted to become a China’s gateway to South Asia, the province alwaystreasures its relations with Vietnam, and wants to enhance multifacetedcooperation with the nation.

He expected that tradevalue between the two sides would be higher than the figure of 4.2 billion USDin 2018, accounting for only 2.8 percent of Vietnam-China trade revenue in theyear.

Yunnan stands ready topurchase Vietnamese farm produce in the time ahead, and wants to develop theHekou free trade area and help Vietnam’s Lao Cai province become a cross-bordercooperation area between the two nations, Wang said, suggesting the two sides permitself-driving tours to boost tourism.

Deputy PM Hue agreed withWang’s proposals in bolstering two-way trade, pointing out that Vietnameseexporters are facing a lot of difficulties while shipping farm produce to Chinathrough Thanh Thuy border gate in Ha Giang province and Tan Thanh border gatein Lang Son province, and urging leaders of Yunnan to help address thematters./.
