Party General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong made the statement whilereceiving visiting Haitian Prime Minister Laurent Salvador Lamothe inHanoi on December 17.

Trong spoke highly of thediscussion outcomes between Lamothe and the high-ranking Vietnameseleaders, affirming that Vietnam treasures the development offriendship and cooperation with Latin American countries.

Lamothe pledged to further deepen ties between the two countries in amore practical and effective manner. He expressed his wish to sharenational management knowledge with Vietnam and strengthen bilateralties in many fields, especially food security.

He affirmed that Haiti will open an embassy in Hanoi to boost ties with Vietnam in the time to come.

At a meeting with National Assembly Chairman Nguyen Sinh Hung the sameday, Lamothe vowed to develop cooperation with Vietnam in foodsecurity, telecommunications, trade, culture and education.

Hung said the meeting results between Lamothe and his Vietnamesecounterpart will help lift bilateral ties to a new height and createopportunities for the two peoples to strengthen mutual understanding.

He suggested the two parliaments promote cooperationand exchanges to enhance the Vietnam-Haiti friendship, adding that thetwo countries should work together in all aspects for peace anddevelopment in the world.-VNA
