Vietnam to ensure power supply for APEC 2017

Hanoi (VNA)– The National Power Transmission Corporation (EVN NPT) has developed a plan toensure power supply for the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) meetings inVietnam.

Vietnam will hostabout 200 APEC events across ten major cities, with the biggest being the APECweek in central Da Nang city in November.

2017 marks thesecond time Vietnam will host the APEC, following the first in 2006.

The EVN NPT, amember of the Electricity of Vietnam (EVN) Group, said it completedconstruction of many projects last year in preparation for the internationalevent, including those to improve the capacity of the 500 kV Da Nang, 220kV HoaKhanh, and 220kV Ngu Hanh Son transformer stations.

The corporation hasdirected local units to ensure the operation of the transformer stations andtransmission lines and provide regular updates on the lines’ status.

The local units werealso assigned to intensify management of the transformer stations, especiallyin Da Nang, and requested to not cut off the electricity in the second andthird quarters of 2017.

The EVN NPTinspected the operation and safety of the Power Transmission Company No.2, theDa Nang Power Transmission Company, and the 220 kV 220kV Hoa Khanh, 220kV DaNang, and 220kV Ngu Hanh Son transformer stations from March 13-15.-VNA
