A Party delegation led by Nguyen Viet Thao, Deputy Director of the Ho Chi Minh National Academy of Politics, paid a working visit to Mexico and attended the 21st meeting of the Sao Paulo Forum from July 29 to August 3, aiming to tighten friendship and cooperation with political parties in Latin America.
At the forum, Thao joined 500 representatives of 104 political parties from 23 nations to discuss and approve nearly 30 resolutions, action programmes and a joint declaration condemning conspiracies of hostile forces against constitutional governments in the region while welcoming the decision to reopen a Cuban embassy in Washington D.C. and a US embassy in Havana.
On the sidelines of the meeting, the Vietnamese official met representatives from a number of political parties, including Head of the External Relations Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba Jose Ramon Balaguer Cabrera, Head of the International Relations Department of Nicaragua’s Sandinista National Liberation Front Carlos Fonseca Teran and International Relations Secretary of the Brazilian Communist Party Ricardo Alemao.
They spoke highly of the friendship between their parties with the Vietnamese Party and hoped for intensified collaboration through delegation exchanges and information and experience sharing.
Thao was also received by General Secretary of the Mexican Labour Party Alberto Anaya Gutierrez, who reaffirmed his party’s consistent support for Vietnam in dealing with the East Sea issue and pledged to continue implementing cooperation programmes with the Communist Party of Vietnam and relevant offices.
On August 3, the official had a working session with Secretary for External Relations of the Institutional Revolutionary Party Javier Vega Camargo.-VNA
