Phu Tho (VNA) – The Vietnam Summer Camp 2018 kicked off at the Temple ofHung Kings in the northern province of Phu Tho on July 12, drawing 120 youngoverseas Vietnamese from 30 nations and territories, and a crowd of localyouths.
Speaking at the event, Deputy Foreign Minister and Head ofthe State Committee for Overseas Vietnamese Affairs Vu Hong Nam expressed hishope that through the camp’s activities, young Vietnamese expats will be responsiblefor promoting the country’s culture and history to the international communityas well as maintaining and preserving the cultural tradition in the overseasVietnamese community.
This year’s camp, which lasts until July 25, features a bigprogramme of activities across 11 localities from the North to the South.
Together with the opening ceremony at the Temple of HungKings, the closing event will be held in Buon Ma Thuot city, the CentralHighlands province of Dak Lak. In between, the programme includes visits tohistorical and cultural relic sites in Hanoi and the provinces of Ninh Binh,Nghe An, Ha Tinh, Quang Binh, Quang Tri, Thua Thien-Hue, Quang Nam, Kon Tum andDak Lak.
Participants will also engage in charitable activities inthe central provinces of Nghe An and Quang Nam along with exchanges withdomestic youths and overseas young entrepreneurs.
Since it was first held in 2004, the annual Vietnam SummerCamp has attracted about 2,000 young people from various countries andterritories.-VNA
