Hanoi (VNA) – PrimeMinister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on May 9 cabled a message of congratulations to Dmitry Medvedev on his re-appointment as PrimeMinister of Russia.
TheKremlin issued a statement saying that President Vladimir Putin, who was sworn infor a new term on May 7, nominated Dmitry Medvedev again to be Prime Ministerin his new term.
Vietnamand Russia established diplomatic ties on January 30, 1950.
Over thepast nearly two decades, economy and trade have been the highlights in tiesbetween the two nations, with robust growth seen in the oil and gas and energysectors.
Two-way trade topped 5.3 billion USD in 2017,representing a year-on-year rise of 35 percent. In the first two months of thisyear, the figure reached 657.7 million USD, up 45.3 percent year on year.
The two countries are working together to raisethe figure to 10 billion USD by 2020.
Russia haspoured more than 1 billion USD in Vietnam, ranking 23rd out of 119 nationsand territories investing in the country.
It isVietnam’s second biggest foreign investment destination, worth nearly 3 billionUSD via projects funded by the Vietnam National Oil and Gas Group(PetroVietnam), TH True Milk Group and the Hanoi – Moscow Trade Centre.-VNA
