Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam and Saudi Arabia have agreed to establish achannel to receive information and settle disputes between Vietnamese labourersand employers in the Middle Eastern country.
The information was heard at a recent meeting in Saudi Arabia between Vietnam’sMinistry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs and Saudi Arabia’s Ministry ofLabour and Social Development.
The channel will monitor Vietnamese businesses and Saudi Arabian labourbrokerage firms to improve worker quality, provide necessary knowledge forworkers before going overseas while ensuring legal rights and benefits forlabourers in Saudi Arabia.
Under a cooperation agreement sealed between the two countries in 2000, Vietnamhas sent nearly 20,000 workers to Saudi Arabia. They work in various sectorslike construction, engineering, transportation, restaurants, hotels, and domesticworkers.
Notably, there are 7,000 Vietnamese working as domestic workers in the country.-VNA
