Moscow (VNA) – Over 30 Vietnamese and Russianresearchers joined a virtual international symposium looking back on Vietnam’shistory over the past 75 years on October 21 and 22.
Co-organised by the Russian Academy of Sciences’ Centre forVietnam and ASEAN Studies and the Vietnam Academy of Social Sciences’ Institutefor European Studies, the event consisted of a plenary session and a workshopmarking the 75th anniversary of Vietnam’s August Revolution (1945 –2020).
At the workshop, participating scholars delved into andexchanged views over five key topics – policy on external relations,socio-economic development, historical reality in the new era, cultural values,and language – literature.
Participants mentioned current challenges to maritimesecurity and the high-tech agriculture trend amid international integration.They also compared Vietnam’s economic growth before and after 1975.
Analysing what had led to the victory of the AugustRevolution, Russian scholars said the event was a special and indigenous historicalperiod of Vietnam.
Vietnam’s national values, challenges arisen frommodernisation, religious situations in the 21st century, andCOVID-19 fight were also put on the table.
A summary of the workshop was scheduled to be published inthe first quarter of 2021./.
