Vietnam, RoK increase agricultural cooperation

Vietnam and the Republic of Korea (RoK) on January 13 signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on furthering bilateral agricultural cooperation, in a joint effort to improve food security.

The signatories were Vietnam’s Minister of Agriculture and RuralDevelopment Cao Duc Phat and his RoK counterpart Lee Dong-phil.

The MoU is a follow-up to an agreement reached by the two countries’leaders during President Park Geun-hye’s visit to Vietnam lastSeptember.

In a press release the RoK’s Ministry ofAgriculture said the two sides consented to actively increasingbilateral exchanges and collaboration in the field, including theestablishment of a joint committee on agricultural cooperation, in a bidto better food security.

The aforesaid agreementalso manifests the strategic partnership between the two nations and isexpected to further promote investment in agriculture in each country,the ministry said.

During their meeting in Sejong,Minister Lee Dong-phil said the RoK will share experiences and provideagricultural technology for Vietnam. The two ministers discussedother issues, including the RoK’s export of pork to Vietnam.-VNA
