Hanoi(VNA) – Vietnam’s Ministry of Labour, Invalids and Social Affairs (MoLISA)and the Republic of Korea’s Ministry of Health and Welfare (MOHW) signed amemorandum of understanding (MoU) on cooperation in social welfare in Hanoi onAugust 28.
Under the pact, the bilateral collaboration will be carriedout based on available resources of each side and on the principles offairness, win-win benefit, and respecting each country’s law and regulations.
The sides will work together in various areas, includingpolicies to ensure income like those on social support and pension; as well aswelfare policies and programmes related to newborn, children, the elderly andthe disabled.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Vice Minister of theMoLISA Le Tan Dung said Vietnam can learn from the RoK’s models and policiesfor social security targeting the disabled and the old, low-income earners, andother vulnerable groups.
The just-inked MoU will set up a cooperation framework forthe two ministries to increase join activities and experience exchanges in thesector, he stated.
Vice Minister of the MOGW Kim Gang-lip said thecollaboration with Vietnam is among key works of the RoK Government, addingthat the pact will open up opportunities for bilateral engagements in socialwelfare, which is yet to be done in the past time.
He stressed the pact will help the two peoples obtain morewelfare benefits and happier life.-VNA
