Vietnam retail petrol prices fall

The retail price of petrol was reduced by 260 VND to 20,120 VND (93 US cents) per litre starting from 3pm of July 20, in the wake of falling global fuel prices, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) said.

Theprice of biofuel E5 RON 92 was reduced by 425 VND to 19,625 VND (90cents) per litre, while the price of diesel has come down by 1,112 VNDto 14,681 VND (67 cents) per litre.

The price of kerosene wasreduced by 1,128 VND per litre to 13,750 VND (63 cents), while that ofmazut was reduced by 872 VND per kilo to 11,434 VND (52 cents) per kilo.

Inaddition, MOIT and the Ministry of Finance said in a joint statementthat they had decided to keep the petrol price stabilisation fundunchanged.

Statistics from MOIT show that petrol prices have beenincreased four times and reduced three times so far this year. Thelargest hike was on May 5, when the price increased by 1,950 VND (9cents) per litre. The four price hikes have increased the price ofpetrol by a total of 5,040 VND (23 cents) per litre since last year. Thethree price cuts, meanwhile, reduced the petrol price by a total of2,540 VND (11 cents) per litre.-VNA
