Hanoi (VNA) – Three more people onMarch 23 tested positive for the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 that caused theacute respiratory disease (COVID-19), raising the total number of infection casesin Vietnam to 121.
The 119th case is a 29-year-old US citizen.He currently resides in Ho Chi Minh City’s Binh Thanh district and works for afinancial consulting firm in the city’s district 1.
From March 1, he travelled between Vietnam,Indonesia and Thailand, returned to Vietnam on March 15 on a flight whosenumber and schedule he could not remember. Afterwards, he went to work and someother places in the city.
He had fever, cough and sore throat onMarch 19 and visited the FV Hospital for check-up the next day and has been quarantinedand treated since then.
The 120th is a 27-year-old foreign languageteacher from Canada, residing in District 2 of HCM City.
He entered Vietnam from Canada on February11 and had close contact with the 91st case at some restaurants andentertainment places on March 14, including Bar Buddha.
After the 91st patient tested positive forthe virus, the Canadian was sent to a concentrated quarantine area in district2 on March 19. Two days later, he got fever and dry cough and was transferredto the acute respiratory disease hospital in HCM City’s Cu Chi district.
The 121st patient is a 58-year-old Vietnameseman living in Tan Binh district of HCM City.
On March 18, he and his wife flew from NewYork, the US, transited in Japan’s Narita airport and boarded flight NH831 backto Vietnam. They arrived at Tan Son Nhat airport on March 19 and went intoquarantine in Can Gio district.
The patient got fever the next day and hasbeen quarantined at the district’s health centre./.
