The latest patient,residing in ward 7 in Ho Chi Minh City’s Tan Binh district, had his sampletested positive for the novel coronavirus SARS-CoV-2 by the HCM City PasteurInstitute.
He had previouslyworked and had dinner with the 34th patient – a 51 year-old Vietnamesewoman in Binh Thuan province – and her husband on March 3.
The patient returned toHCM City on March 4 on his own car together with three other people.
After the 34th patient was confirmed to be infected with SARS-CoV-2 on March 10, hequarantined himself at his home.
On March 12, he got a medicalcheck-up after suffering snuffles and a sore throat and was taken to aconcentrated quarantine area in Tan Binh district. Afterward, the patient wasbrought to Cu Chi hospital of acute respiratory disease for treatment and isnow in stable health condition.
His samples were testedpositive for SARS-CoV-2 by both the HCM City Hospital of Tropical Diseases andthe HCM City Pasteur Institute.
Of the 45 COVID-19cases reported in Vietnam so far, 16 were successfully cured and dischargedfrom hospitals./.
