PMPhuc affirmed that humanitarian relief, especially for those in remote areasand victims of natural disasters, is crucial.
However,there remain several spontaneous activities, he noted, asking the VRC to cooperatewith local authorities to ensure humanitarian activities are organised at rightvenues, and for right people.
TheGovernment leader suggested the association intensify internationalcollaboration to attract more assistance from the international community, andactively participate in disaster relief in the world.
TheGovernment will create all favourable conditions for the VRC’s activities, headded.
Foundedby late President Ho Chi Minh 71 years ago, the VRC now has over 8 millionmembers working in nearly 17,000 grassroots chapters nationwide.
Overthe past 10 years, the VRC has mobilised 527.8 billion VND (26 million USD),assisting more than 22.2 million people affected by natural disasters.
Itcooperated with the Health Ministry to collect 4.7 million blood units during2013-2016.
Severalmovements and campaigns launched by the association, such as “Tet for poorpeople and Agent Orange/dioxin victims” programme, and “Cow Bank” project, haveproduced positive results.-VNA
