Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam logged zero new COVID-19 cases within thepast 12 hours as of 6 a.m of October 12, according to the National SteeringCommittee for COVID-19 Prevention and Control.
The country has documented 1,109 SARS-CoV-2 infections so far.
Of the total, 691 were infected with the virus domestically, including 551linked with Da Nang city since the latest coronavirus wave began there on July25.
As many as 1,024 patients have recovered while 35 have died from complicationsrelated to the disease. Most of the fatalities were the elderly with seriousunderlying health conditions.
Among the patients still under treatment, four have tested negative forSARS-CoV-2 once, one twice and 16 thrice. Currently, there is no patient incritical conditions.
There are 16,160 people having closecontact with confirmed cases or coming from pandemic-hit regions underquarantine at present, including 282 in hospitals, 13,331 in concentratedquarantine sites and 2,547 at home or accommodation facilities.
The COVID-19 pandemic may last until the end of 2021 as no vaccine has been readyso far, according to the World Health Organisation./.
