Hanoi (VNA) – Thirty-two international organisationshave donated some 25 million USD for people affected by natural disasters in Vietnam’scentral region this year, heard at a conference held on December 16.
At the event, which reviewed international support forVietnam’s natural disaster risk mitigation in 2020, Deputy Minister ofAgriculture and Rural Development Nguyen Hoang Hiep said the due attentiongiven to Vietnam reflected the humanitarian value in the work of theinternational organisations and the effective operation of the Disaster RiskReduction Partnership (DRRP).
The DRRP was established under the Minister of Agricultureand Rural Development’s Decision No. 3922/QD-BNN-TCCB, with the participationof 18 international organisations.
At the event, representatives from DRRP members discussed relatedmatters and pledged their continued collaboration with Vietnam in the time tocome.
Andrew Jeffries, Country Director of the Asian DevelopmentBank (ADB) and DRRP Chairman, said ADB and members of the DRRP have cometo affected provinces and offered technical and financial assistance to locals.
He affirmed the ADB will continue to stand side by side withVietnam in the prevention and control of natural disasters and mitigation oftheir risks.
Tran Quang Hoai, deputy head of the Central SteeringCommittee for Natural Disaster Prevention and Control, noted all neededconditions will be made available to facilitate the operation of the partnership./.
