Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnamstands ready to cooperative with countries, including Canada, in recovering theglobal trade and supply chain, Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister PhamBinh Minh told Canadian Foreign Minister Francois-Philippe Champagne during their phone talks on May 14.
Minh lauded Canada’s efforts in fighting the COVID-19 pandemic, andthanked the Canadian Government for its coordination with and support to Vietnam inorganising two fights bring home more than 550 Vietnamese citizens from the country.
He stressed the Vietnamese Government’s resolve to contain the epidemicwhile promoting production and business.
For his part, Champagne congratulated Vietnam on its successes incoping with the pandemic, and thanked the country for its coordination in repatriatingCanadians in China in January.
The Canadian minister expressed his hope for further information sharingand collaboration in the epidemic combat through bilateral and multilateral cooperationmechanisms.
The two sides spoke highly of the fruitful bilateral relations acrossspheres, especially after Vietnam and Canada established a comprehensive partnershipin 2017 and began to realise the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement forTrans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
They agreed to step up the exchange of all-level delegations andmaintain the existing mechanisms between the two foreign ministries.
The two sides pledged to closely coordinate with each other at regionaland international forums during the time when Vietnam works as ASEAN Chair 2020and a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for2020-2021./.
