Vietnam promotes cooperative ties with Argentinean locality

BuenosAires (VNA) – A delegation of the Vietnamese Embassy in Argentina led byAmbassador Dang Xuan Dung has paid a working visit to the central province ofCordoba to promote ties between the locality and Vietnam.

Cordobaprovince, some 700km from the capital city Buenos Aires, has huge developmentpotential.

Cordobais one of the country’s leading localities in terms of agricultural products, particularlyin livestock, soybean, maize and peanuts. It has seen strong industrial development,including automobile assembling, spare parts and agricultural machinery.

TheAmbassador met with Cordoba leaders to explore local development models andexpand cooperation in its key sectors with Vietnam.

Thehosts lauded the Doi Moi (Reform), economic development, and national buildingof Vietnam in recent years, believing that with its abundant human and naturalresources, Vietnam will continue to obtain more successes on its path ofdevelopment.

Localleaders expressed their hope that Argentinean enterprises will have a chance tomeet with promising Vietnamese partners in their upcoming visit.

TheGovernors of Cordoba, Entre Rios and Sante Fe provinces will lead a delegationof Argentinean officials and enterprises to Vietnam to discuss cooperation,according to the Argentinean side.

Forhis part, Ambassador Dung briefed the hosts on Vietnam’s socio-economicdevelopment model, affirming that after 30 years of Doi Moi, Vietnam has gainedbreakthroughs, improving its people’s living conditions and boosting economicdevelopment via industrialisation.

Hewelcomed the upcoming visit of Argentinean officials and enterprises, andpledged to connect the Argentinean firms with Vietnamese partners.

Duringthe trip, the Vietnamese delegation met with leaders and students of theprovince’s Twenty-First Century University and Catholic University. He briefedparticipants on Vietnam’s education system and programmes and pledged to serveas a bridge to boost cooperation in training, research and students exchange,particularly in language training between the province and Vietnam.

Healso introduced to the hosts Vietnam’s landscapes, people and internationalintegration over the year nearly 40 years of Doi Moi.

Despitechallenges, Vietnam is one of the leading economies in Southeast Asia, with GDPgrowth of 6.8 percent, inflation at 3.16 percent and trade value reaching arecord 400 billion USD in 2017.

Vietnampursues a consistent policy of diversification and multilateralisation ofinternational relations and international integration, on the basisof equality, mutual respect and benefits.

Vietnamhas signed 12 bilateral and multilateral free trade agreements, including theComprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).Vietnam has responsibly participated in international organisations andmultilateral cooperation mechanisms, such as the United Nations, the Associationof Southeast Asian Nations and the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation.

Vietnamhas established cooperation with other nations and partners in all fields,including politics, security – defence, science – technology and education –training.

TheVietnamese diplomat highlighted the Vietnam – Argentina bilateral friendshipwhich was established in 1973, particularly after they upgraded their relationsto a strategic partnership in 2010.

Recently,economic and trade relations between the two countries have seen improvements,with two-way trade value reaching 3 billion USD, making Argentina Vietnam’ssecond biggest trade partner in Latin America, and Vietnam the second mostimportant market of Argentina in Asia.

Onthe occasion, the embassy of Vietnam introduced Vietnamese food and coffee tointernational friends in Cordoba province.-VNA
