Vietnam continues to prioritise enhancing its relations with France, especially its traditional friendship with the French Communist Party, of which Vietnam’s late President Ho Chi Minh was one of founding members.

Paris (VNA) – Vietnam continues to prioritise enhancing its relationswith France, especially its traditional friendship with the French CommunistParty, of which Vietnam’s late President Ho Chi Minh was one of foundingmembers.

The statement was made by Vietnamese Ambassador to FranceDinh Toan Thang during his meeting with National Secretary of the FrenchCommunist Party Fabien Roussel on July 12.

Thang briefed the host on the outcomes of the 13th National Congress of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) as well as thecountry’s socio-economic development orientations and foreign policy in thecoming time.

He thanked leaders and members of the French Communist Partyfor supporting the CPV and Vietnamese people during the past struggle fornational independence and the current nation building and safeguarding cause.

National Secretary Fabien Roussel expressed his delight atpositive developments in relations between the two countries and two parties,reflected through meetings of the two sides’ leaders amidst the COVID-19pandemic.

He said he was impressed by Vietnam’s fight against theCOVID-19 pandemic and its socio-economic development achievements over the pasttime.

He affirmed that his party’s members always exert efforts tostrengthen bilateral multifaceted cooperation.

Both host and guest agreed to step up bilateral relations,with the focus on organising joint activities, intensifying delegation exchangeand cooperation between Vietnam’s Nhan Dan (People) newspaper and France’sl’Humanité (Humanity) newspaper.

The relationship between the two parties will continuecreating a firm political foundation to consolidate the Vietnam-Francestrategic partnership for peace, development and social progress as well as forthe benefits of the two countries’ people, they affirmed./.
