Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam welcomes and will create optimalconditions for the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) andbusinesses from Japan to operate and take part in key projects on energy,industry, transport and infrastructure, a senior Vietnamese official has said.
Politburo member and head of the Party Central Committee’sEconomic Commission Nguyen Van Binh made the statement while receiving JBICGovernor Tadashi Maeda in Hanoi on May 17.
He spoke highly of the fruitful development of the Vietnam-Japanrelationship across spheres, especially economy, trade and investment. He affirmedthe Vietnamese Party and State’s consistent policy of regarding Japan as a leadingand long-term partner.
The official lauded the JBIC’s role in infrastructure, energy andloan supply, helping to promote Japan’s investment in Vietnam.
For his part, Maeda briefed the host on his delegation’s working tripto Vietnam, during which they proposed new cooperation initiatives that aim toencourage energy development, particularly renewable, clean and environmentally-friendlyenergy.
He also talked about thebank’s orientations to increase its loans for Vietnam in the projects with theparticipation of Japanese investors and exporters.
Applauding theseinitiatives, Binh asked the bank to push ahead with negotiations to materialisethem and consider expanding loans for Vietnamese firms or joint ventures of thetwo countries, especially in infrastructure and energy.
The successfulimplementation of these initiatives will help the Vietnam-Japan extensivestrategic partnership develop in a more comprehensive and pragmatic manner, thehost added.-VNA
