Vietnam won one gold and two silver medals from the Singapore Open Track and Field Championship which closed on Aug. 21.
The Vietnamese gold medalist was Do Thi Thao, who triumphed in the women's 800m race with a time of 2:09.18.
Thao, who pocketed a bronze medal from the 25th Southeast Asian Gamesin Laos two years ago, beat out three strong rivals – Dell Salome,Koniel Donna and Tine Tuna – from Papua New Guinea to top thepodium.
Nguyen Van Ly took silver in the men's 5,000m,clocking 15:19.56. He was behind Filipino Sore Hernani who timed15:10.00. Earlier, Ly finished second in the 1,500m with a time of4:02.98. Mehendran Vadivellan of Malaysia , who was the firstrunner-up in the 25th SEA Games, snatched the gold with a time of3:58.07./.
