General Director Loi introduced the role and function of theVNA and underlined the need to enhance information sharing between the VNA andYonhap news agency. He said the Vietnamese people pay close attention to theRoK and its people so that the two news agencies hold responsibility fordeepening mutual understanding between the two countries’ peoples.
PM Lee, for his part, wished that the VNA and Yonhap wouldcontinue serving as bridges to promote bilateral ties in the near future.
He also conveyed his thanks to the Vietnamese Government forfacilitating RoK businesses’ operations in Vietnam over the past few years, aswell as providing support for Korean people in the country.
The same day, General Director Loi had talks with YonhapPresident Sung-boo Cho. Loi wished that Yonhap would share its experience inthe use of artificial intelligence in news production, adding that VNA is readyto assist Yonhap in opening a Vietnamese page on its website.
As a national news agency, the VNA is responsible forproviding mainstream information for foreign news agencies, and willing tooffer maximum support to Yonhap correspondents to cover news in Vietnam, hesaid.
He invited Yonhap President Cho to the 44th meeting of the Organisation of Asia-PacificNews Agencies (OANA) scheduled for April 19-20 in Vietnam.
PresidentCho wished that both sides would continue working closely together ininformation works.
On theoccasion, the VNA General Director, Yonhap President, and Executive ViceChairman of SK Innovation – the RoK’s largest chemical energy company – signeda memorandum of understanding on media cooperation for a mangrove forestrestoration project in the Mekong Delta province of Tra Vinh.
During his visitto the RoK, VNA General Director Loi made trips to the Vietnamese Embassy andSamsung Group. On February 19-20, the VNA General Director and his entourage willvisit SK Innovation’s petrol refinery and tour the southern cities of Ulsan andBusan.
The workingvisit is at the invitation of Yonhap President Sung-boo Cho from February17-21.–VNA
