Addressing the Jan. 14 ceremony to hand over his decision toambassadors, President Triet urged the newly-appointed officials toplay an active role and help to strengthen the friendship, solidarityand understanding between Vietnam and the countries they will work in.
The ambassadors should learn more about late President Ho Chi Minh’sthoughts in diplomacy, said the State leader, while asking thediplomats to be flexible in their jobs.
In some cases, the ambassadors should take the initiative and holdtalks for the country’s own interests, especially on the issues ofdemocracy, human rights and religion in which Vietnam has always provedits justice stance, said Triet.
On other issues, the State President told the new ambassadors to makemore effort to promote economic and trade ties, gather marketinformation, establish new business ties and learn about economicdevelopment from their experiences overseas./.
