Vietnam, Laos promote “one-stop-shop” model at border gates

Lieut. Gen. Vo Trong Viet, Commander of theVietnamese Border Guards and Major General Bounthieng Chanthamounkhounfrom the Lao Ministry of Public Security signed a Memorandum ofUnderstanding on June 26 in Vientiane.

Accordingly, agenciesof the two sides will be enabled to supervise import-export andentry-exit activities to help realise the cross-border transportfacilitation agreement between Greater Mekong Sub-region (GMS)countries.

Both Vietnamese and Lao officials have closelyworked together over the past time in border gate management, whichcontributes to the strengthening of the special friendship between thetwo countries.

The “one-stop-shop” customs mechanism aims tosimplify administrative procedures and facilitate the flow of vehiclesand goods.-VNA
