Hanoi (VNA) – Chairwoman of theNational Assembly Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan has asked the Supreme People’s Courts ofVietnam and Laos to increase training courses for judges and court officials.
She made the statement at a reception forvisiting Chief Judge of the Lao Supreme People's Court Khampha Sengdara inHanoi on July 16.
Ngan said the country is making efforts toimplement the judicial reform strategy and has gained significant outcomes, addingthat the court plays an important role in the field.
The top legislator hailed the close coordinationbetween the Vietnam Supreme People’s Court and the Lao counterpart, especiallyin training judges and court officials – which has been mentioned in thebilateral cooperation agreement signed in 2008.
The two sides have also exchanged workingdelegations at both central and local levels, she added.
She highly appreciated the organisation of thecourt conference of Vietnamese, Cambodian, and Lao border provinces, as itpromotes the sharing of experience, especially in dealing with transnationalcrimes.
Khampha Sengdara said the Lao Supreme People’sCourt is implementing restructuring.
During talks with the Vietnamese counterpart,the two sides exchanged experience in revising the Code of Civil Procedure,publishing judgments on portal, managing judges while performing public duties,and applying Industry 4.0 in judicial activities.
He also informed the cooperation outcomesbetween the two courts over the past time, including training judges. Before2007, the two sides mainly cooperated at the central level. But afterwards,they have increased exchanges at provinces, shared border areas, and localitiessetting up twin ties, he said.
Chairwoman Ngan sent her best regards to her Laocounterpart Pany Yathotou and hoped the Lao top legislator will visit Vietnamagain soon.-VNA
