Theagreement was reached at talks between SPCV Deputy Chief Justice DangQuang Phuong and LSC President Khammy Sayavong in Hanoi onSeptember 9.
Both host and guest informed each otherof the development of their respective countries’ judicial sector,emphasising the necessity to further enhance cooperation between bothsides.
Cooperation between Vietnam and Laoshas seen significant improvements since a bilateral cooperationagreement was signed on August 13, 2008, they said.
The SPCV will help its Lao counterpart to raise the professionalcapabilities of judges in Laos and supply information technologytraining and professional materials to Lao courts in the second phase ofa project to increase the Lao Supreme Court’s capabilities in 2011 and2012.
Sayavong used the occasion to thank the SPCV for helping it to train its staff and implement the project’s first phase.
Lao courts are willing to work with their Vietnamese counterparts in joint activities, confirmed Sayavong.
During their week-long visit to Vietnam, which will end on September13, the Lao delegation is scheduled to pay courtesy visits to StatePresident Nguyen Minh Triet, the head of the Supreme People’s Procuracyand the Minister of Justice as well as attending the SPCV’s 65 thfounding anniversary./.
