They agreed on this strategy at a meeting of theVietnam-Laos cooperation subcommittee in Hanoi on June 17 to review itsoperations over the past six months and discuss the future.
Accordingly,the two sides will continue the exchange of delegations in variousforms and coordinate more in the fight against transnational crimes,especially cross-border drug trafficking.
In economiccooperation, they will join hands in reviewing Vietnam-invested projectsin Laos to swiftly solve problems, while boosting connections inagriculture and rural development, especially irrigation projects.
Theyalso agreed to continue improving the quality and effectiveness oftheir cooperation in education and human resources development for the2011-20 period, as well as the protocols on personnel training betweenthe two countries.
Addressing the meeting, Deputy Prime MinisterNguyen Xuan Phuc, Chairman of the subcommittee, asked ministries andagencies to promptly carry out their tasks in the Vietnam-Laosrelationship, thus contributing to fostering the special ties andcomprehensive cooperation between the two countries.
So far thisyear, Vietnam has invested about 5 billion USD in Laos, ranking thirdamong foreign investors in the landlocked country, according to theMinistry of Planning and Investment.-VNA
