Hanoi (VNA) - The Vietnam-Korea Friendship Association (VKFA) organisedits third national congress for the 2018-2013 term in Hanoi on September 20.

Thecongress elected a 47-member executive committee for the 2018-2023 tenure withChairman of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI) Vu Tien Loc votedas President of the VKFA.

Areported delivered at the congress showed that during the past term, the VKFA effectivelycarried out a wide range of activities in different fields such as politics,economy, cultural exchange and charity, thereby helping to strengthen andenhance friendship and mutual understanding between the people of Vietnam andthe Republic of Korea (RoK).

Charitableand humanitarian activities are among the priorities of the VKFA. In the lastterm, the association mobilized RoK businesses to grant scholarships, clothes,sewing machines and production materials to poor students and orphans acrossthe country.

TheVKFA also called on RoK companies and partners to donate money and necessitiesto residents affected by natural disasters.

Inthe new term, the association plans to disseminate the Party and State’sinternal and external policies as well as Vietnam’s achievements in the reformprocess so that the people of both nations get a better understand about theircountries, people, cultural-historic tradition and Vietnam-RoK relations.

TheVKFA will also call for more support from the RoK and partners for the cause ofsocio-economic development in Vietnam.

VicePresident of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organisations (VUFO) Bui Khac Soncommended the VKFA’s successes in the last term, saying that its activitieshave made practical contributions to friendly and cooperative relations betweenthe Vietnamese and Korean people.

Meanwhile,RoK Ambassador to Vietnam Kim Do-hyun promised to accompany and support theVKFA in implementing activities to reinforce and promote friendship and mutual understandingbetween the Korean and Vietnamese people.-VNA
