Hanoi (VNA) – Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc hosted areception on October 31 for new Bangladeshi Ambassador to Vietnam Samina Naz,during which he affirmed that Vietnam always pays great attention to developingpartnership with the South Asian country.

The PM noted that the two countries have given each other soundsentiments and mutual support during their past struggle for independence aswell as current national construction and development.

He expressed pleasure at the growing bilateral ties over the past 44years, while congratulating Bangladeshi people on their achievements insocio-economic development, poverty reduction and living conditionimprovements.

The PM noted that Vietnam and Bangladesh are enjoying fruitful economiccooperation, with trade reaching 609 million USD in 2016 from only 93 millionin 2009, and expressed hope that Bangladesh will import more Vietnamese goods,including farm produce, aquatic products, consumer goods, and materials.

The two sides hold high potential of partnering in infrastructure,telecommunications, and fish farming, he asserted, adding that Vietnam isimproving its investment environment to attract more investors, including thosefrom Bangladesh.

He also said he believes that the new ambassador will have new ideas tofurther boost all-round collaboration between the two countries.

For her part, Ambassador Naz affirmed that the Government and people ofBangladesh always support Vietnam in its national defence, construction anddevelopment.

Bangladesh considers Vietnam as an example of socio-economicdevelopment, she said, adding that her country hopes to welcome more Vietnameseinvestors, especially in traditional areas and telecommunications.-VNA
