Rome (VNA) – Minister of Industry and Trade TranTuan Anh had a working session with Italian Undersecretaryfor Economic Development Adrea Cioffi in Rome on June 20 to discuss measuresto promote economic partnership between the two countries and in the region.
Minister Anh recalled the fruitful outcomes of Italian PrimeMinister Guiseppe Conte’s visit to Vietnam early this month, which laid thefoundation for ministries and sectors of both sides to further foster theircollaboration.
Vietnam and the EU and Italy in particular have highly supplementaryimport-export structure, he noted, saying that the EU-Vietnam Free TradeAgreement (EVFTA) and the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) willbenefit both sides.
The two sides agreed to enhance economic and tradepartnership bilaterally as well as at regional and local levels, especiallythrough the signing and ratification of the EVFTA and the EVIPA.
At the session, Anh and Cioffi signed a memorandum ofunderstanding between the two ministries on cooperation in energy, which is apromising collaboration area of both sides.
The two sides concurred to implement the memorandum ofunderstanding immediately in parallel with considering cooperation in otherareas, while realising the results reached by leaders of both countries duringthe Italian PM’s visit.
Latter the same day, Minister Anh and his delegation workedwith representatives from the General Confederation of Italian Industry (Confindustria)to seek ways to boost bilateral economic and trade ties.-VNA
