The confederation also recommended increasing dialogues and cooperation between businesses and employees.
Under the theme “Human Rights and Businesses”, the three-day eventattracted 120 representatives of governments, research institutes,social organisations and enterprises from 53 ASEM member countries.
Participants spoke highly of the host’s role in and contributions tothe successful event. They shared their experience and made suggestionsto raise businesses’ awareness and sense of responsibility in the field,especially towards vulnerable groups such as women, children and peoplewith disabilities.
The first informal ASEM seminaron human rights was held in 1997 at the initiative of Sweden andFrance . Its coordination board includes seven members, namely France,Sweden, China, Indonesia, the Philippines, the EuropeanCommittee and the Asia-Europe Foundation.
This was the first time Vietnam hosted such a seminar.-VNA
