Vientiane (VNA) – Chief of the General Staff General Do Ba Ty held separate bilateral meetings with heads of delegations from Laos, the Philippines, Myanmar, and Brunei on March 13 on the sidelines of the 13th ASEAN Chiefs of Defence Forces Informal Meeting (ACDFIM-13) in Laos.
During his talks with his Lao counterpart Lieutenant General Suvone Luongbounmy, General Ty, who led the Vietnamese delegation to the ACDFIM-13, appreciated the host country’s preparation work for the event.
Vietnam will continue to assist Laos in performing its role as ASEAN’s Chair in 2016, Ty affirmed.
The two sides agreed to consolidate the bilateral cooperation between the two nations on multi-lateral forums.
During the meeting with head of the Philippines’ delegation Lieutenant General Romeo Tanalgo, the two sides expressed delight at the fruitful cooperation between the two nations’ armies.
They shared views on accelerating the agreements reached on delegation exchanges at all levels, and navy training and exchanges.
They also expressed hope for continued mutual support at multi-lateral forums for the interest of each country as well as for the sake of regional peace and stability.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese General and Myanmar’s Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services General Min Aung Hlaing agreed on fostering bilateral cooperation in military medicine, education and training.
Myanmar always wishes to boost the friendship and multi-faceted cooperation with Vietnam, particularly in national defence, on the basis of the traditional ties of the two nations, reiterated the Myanmar General.
General Ty also discussed with head of the Brunei’s delegation Major General Palaoan Mohd Tawih Abdullab measures to consolidate bilateral cooperation in national defence, focusing on education and training, information exchange, among others.
The ACDFIM-13 runs from March 13 to 15.-VNA
