Vietnam, France enhance transport infrastructure cooperation

Hanoi (VNA) – Vietnam and France need to continue implementing the HanoiTrain Station-Nhon urban metro rail project (Metro 3) in a rapid and effective manner,contributing to developing Vietnam’s urban transport infrastructure.

The statement was made by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Pham BinhMinh during his meeting in Hanoi on January 16 with Alain Vidalies, Secretaryof State for Transport, Marine Affairs and Fisheries, attached to the Ministerof the Environment, Energy and Marine Affairs, responsible for InternationalClimate Relations of France.

Deputy PM Minh highlighted progress of the Metro 3 project which uses France’sofficial development assistance, and described it as a typical cooperation projectbetween the two countries.

During the meeting, Minh said Vietnam attaches importance to enhancing tieswith France and wishes to deepen the Vietnam-France strategic partnership inall aspects, towards a long-term vision.

He highly appreciated France’s policy to boost economic cooperation withVietnam, saying France is a major European investor and trade partner ofVietnam.

Secretary of State Vidalies, for his part, said the two sides have promotedcooperation in the fields of France’s strength and Vietnam’s needs such asinfrastructure, transport and high tech.

The Metro 3 project is evidence for the trust and the realisation of the cooperativerelations between the two countries, he emphasised.

Vidalies said he wishes the two countries will create favourable conditions fordeveloping their collaboration in civil aviation, health care and education inthe near future.-VNA
