Seoul (VNA) – President of the Vietnam Fatherland Front (VFF) Central Committee Nguyen Thien Nhan has suggested the Republic of Korea (RoK) support Vietnam in infrastructure development and cyber security worker training.
The VFF leader made the proposal while paying a courtesy visit to Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea (RoK) Chung Sye-kyun on August 17 as part of his friendly visit to the country.
Noting with pleasure the strategic cooperation partnership between Vietnam and the RoK, which is developing fruitfully across many fields, Nhan thanked the RoK for considering his country a leading development cooperation partner.
The VFF President briefed his host on the achievements Vietnam has recorded during 30 years of reform with a growth rate averaging 6.6 percent and a poverty rate now below 5 percent.
Vietnam has become a bright spot in foreign investment attraction, especially for investors from the RoK, he noted.
For his part, Chung thanked the Vietnamese Party and State for their support to RoK businesses in the country.
The RoK’s position as Vietnam’s top investor in 2015 demonstrates that the Southeast Asian nation has outstandingly satisfied the requirements of the RoK investors, he said.
The Speaker expressed his belief that the bilateral strategic cooperation partnership will thrive in the time ahead, deserving the trust of the two countries’ leaders and people.
He suggested Vietnam inject more investments in tourism as many RoK tourists want to visit the country.
He also pledged to create the best possible conditions to protect the legitimate rights and interests of Vietnamese labourers in the host country.
The same day, VFF President Nguyen Thien Nhan had a meeting with Chairman of the RoK-Vietnam Friendship Association Choi Young-joo, during which he praised the association’s contributions to the friendship and cooperation between the two countries.
He also met with President of the Korean Foundation Lee Si-hyung and visited a smart farming model in Incheon city, Gyeonggi province, about 80 km south of Seoul, where he was introduced to the application of information technology in cultivation and product consumption.-VNA
