Vietnam is looking to increase the average housing floor area per person to 27 sq.m by 2025 (Photo: VNA)Hanoi (VNA) - Vietnam is looking to increase the average housing floorarea per person to 27 sq.m by 2025, in which the floor area per person will be28 sq.m in urban areas, and 26 sq.m in rural areas.
The target is set in the national housing developmentstrategy for the 2021-2030 period recently signed by Deputy Prime Minister LeVan Thanh.
By 2030, Vietnam strives to increase the proportion of solidhouses nationwide to 85-90 percent, with 100 percent in urban areas and 75-80percent in rural areas; and equip 90 percent of houses nationwide withelectricity and water supply and wastewater drainage systems.
The strategy also sets the goal of developing and repairingmore than one billion sq.m of houses, equivalent to about 11.9 millionapartments.
It is to create conditions for everyone to have a place tolive and focus on improving the quality of housing, as well as implementing thetrend of green and smart housing development.
In addition, the housing development must include urbandevelopment, urban embellishment and re-construction of old apartmentbuildings. The housing development in the post-COVID-19 period will beimplemented according to targets on sustainable real estate market development.
The strategy aims to establish the orientation of nationalhousing development activities and local housing development programmes, andincrease rental housing products and promote the development of commercialhousing with medium areas and reasonable prices, meeting the needs of people.The renovation and reconstruction of old apartment buildings in urban areaswill also be promoted.
The strategy focuses on renewing specific policies for eachkind of housing and the target group of social housing policies includingworkers and low-income people in urban areas, and officers and soldiers of thepeople's armed forces.
Regulations on housing management and development are alsoamended according to housing development master plans, strategies andprogrammes.
