The Association of Vietnam Investors in Laos (AVIL) held a ceremony inVientiane on October 10 to mark the 10 th anniversary of the VietnamEntrepreneurs’ Day (October 13).
Addressing the event, AVILChairman Nguyen Duc Moc said that this year’s anniversary takes place inthe context of the comprehensive and intensive development of thespecial relationship between Vietnam and Laos .
Despitenumerous difficulties, Vietnamese businesses have pumped over 5 billionUSD into 410 projects in Laos , making them one of the leadinginvestors in the country, he said, adding that many of the projects havebecome operational, creating stable jobs for 300,000 local residents.
Vietnam ’s direct investment in Laos is forecast toreach over 5.8 billion USD this year, with two-way trade mushrooming to1.5-1.7 billion USD.
Moc also thanked the Parties andGovernments of both countries for creating favourable conditions forVietnamese investors to operate in Laos .
Also at the ceremony, the AVIL launched a social welfare programme to provide assistance to needy people in Laos.-VNA
