Prague (VNA) – Cultural cooperation has contributed to intensifying friendship and mutual understanding between the people of Vietnam and the Czech Republic.
The assessment was made by Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Nguyen Ngoc Thien and Czech Minister of Culture Daniel Herman at their meeting on June 13 during Thien’s working visit to the European country to attend the closing ceremony of the Vietnamese Cultural Year in the Czech Republic 2015.
They agreed to negotiate and sign a new agreement on cultural cooperation to replace the old one inked in 1977.
The Vietnamese official suggested the two sides step up the exchange of musical troupes, while the Czech minister paid attention to the resumption of cooperation of the two national symphony orchestras, which has been interrupted since 1987, as well as the water puppetry of Vietnam.
On the same day, Minister Thien had a working session with Minister of Regional Development Karla Slechtova, during which they agreed that the two countries have yet to fully tap the potential in tourism cooperation.
They vowed to recommend to their respective Governments to consider simplifying visa procedures and to open an air route linking the two capitals to facilitate travel between the two countries.-VNA
