Prague (VNA)– Vietnam and the Czech Republic boast high cooperation potential in the fieldsof science, technology, environment and education, said Dr. Duong Van Minh, anenvironment expert and a lecturer at the University of Chemistry and Technologyin Prague.

On the occasion of the Czech Prime Minister Petr Fiala’s official visit to Vietnam from April 20-24, Minh told Vietnam News Agency (VNA)’s correspondents in Prague that the trip will bringabout new hopes for the two countries that share a common goal of sustainabledevelopment and settlement of challenges in climate change and environmentaldowngrade.

With its advancedtechnologies and high capacity in environmental management, the Czech Republiccan support Vietnam in these fields, while Vietnam, with rich natural resourcesand biodiversity, can provide opportunities for the Czech Republic to developinnovation solutions serving sustainable growth, he said.

The sides can alsocooperate in other areas such as waste management, renewable energy and greentransport, he said, explaining that with a increasing population and urbanisationrate, Vietnam is facing big challenges in waste management, water pollutionand downgrading air quality, for which the Czech Republic can provide technicalassistance in enhancing Vietnam’s capacity.

Minh underlined thatrenewable energy is a promising area for bilateral cooperation, as advancedtechnologies in solar and wind power of the Czech Republic will be helpful forVietnam in completing its ambitious goals in the field.

The two countries canalso work together to develop green transport solutions, such as electricvehicles and public transport systems, to reduce emissions and improve airquality in urban areas, Minh went on to say.

The expert underscored the high potential for Vietnam and the CzechRepublic to partner in education to optimise the Czech Republic’s strengths ineducation and post-graduate research.

Minh said he believesthat the Czech PM’s visit will open up a new win-win cooperation era for thetwo sides, enabling them to work together in dealing with pressing challengesof sustainable development and building a brighter future for the two peoples./.
